Daily Devotional: Psalms 98:1-9
Ps 98:1-9
1 Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. 2 The LORD has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. 3 He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. 4 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; 5 make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, 6 with trumpets and the blast of the ram's horn--shout for joy before the LORD, the King. 7 Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. 8 Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy; 9 let them sing before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity.
Rom 3:21-25
21 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
God has provided a way of salvation for all of mankind. Not only has he prepared the way, but he has also made it known through his Son and through his revealed word, the Bible. Since we have all sinned against God and since we all deserve to die spiritually, to be eternally separated from him, we need the great salvation he provides. In Jesus and by his death, we can have all of our sins forgiven. In him who never sinned, we can be counted as righteous, free from all sin.
It is because of this salvation that we sing songs of praise and we worship the Lord our God. Because of his faithfulness, we can live in great anticipation of eternity but also enjoy every day we have on earth. We can live with the peace of God in our hearts and our minds so that we rejoice all the time. Even our worst day is made bright when we think about seeing Jesus and living with God in eternity!
Hallelujah Lord God! You are an awesome God and your glory is beyond my mind to fathom. Glory and honor to the Lamb, the Son of God, who is worthy to be praised. Thank you for saving me from sin by the blood of Jesus and for making me your child. Thank you for the joy that fills my heart and for the peace of mind you give me in the midst of a mixed up and sinful world. It is so wonderful to be able to escape from the turmoil of this world and talk to you and to feel your presence all around me. Make me a true servant of Jesus. In his name I pray.
