Daily Devotional: Psalms 102:18-22
Ps 102:18-22
18 Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the LORD: 19 "The LORD looked down from his sanctuary on high, from heaven he viewed the earth, 20 to hear the groans of the prisoners and release those condemned to death." 21 So the name of the LORD will be declared in Zion and his praise in Jerusalem 22 when the peoples and the kingdoms assemble to worship the LORD.
Rom 8:35-39
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
If you are a child of God and you are living by faith in Jesus Christ, you have already won the battle. Whatever and when God calls something, it is. There is no “if” when God declares it done, there is no more discussion and there is no doubt that it will happen. This means that your sins are forgiven and that you do not have to wonder, worry, or doubt about your eternal salvation. God is for you and he is on your side, there is no one who is powerful enough to take you from him.
This also means that as a child of God, when we face the trials of life and when all is dark around us, God is with us and he will hold our hand. We can walk every day, hand in hand with Jesus and we can feel his very presence all around us. This is one of the reasons Paul says we are to not worry about anything but rather, we are to pray with thanksgiving about all things; the Lord is near.
Sickness comes, our loved ones die, our hearts break and we lose material things, but we still have the sure promise of a home with God in eternity. We will be in the very presence of God on his throne and Jesus as we praise them both.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your promise of eternal salvation through the blood of Jesus. Increase my faith so I never worry about things but give me wisdom and strength to carry out all you want me to do in this life. Thank you for your continual forgiveness, and your constant presence in my life. Use me to help others in their struggles and be an encouragement to them. Give your healing to those who are sick and peace to those who are filled with grief and turmoil. Be with the people who live in Ukraine. I humbly pray in the name of Jesus.
