Daily Devotional: Psalms 104:10-18
Ps 104:10-18
He makes springs pour water into the ravines; it flows between the mountains. They give water to all the beasts of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. The birds of the air nest by the waters; they sing among the branches. He waters the mountains from his upper chambers; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of his work. He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate--bringing forth food from the earth: wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that sustains his heart. The trees of the LORD are well watered, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted. There the birds make their nests; the stork has its home in the pine trees. The high mountains belong to the wild goats; the crags are a refuge for the coneys.
The Lord cares for his own. This includes the earth and all the creatures that live in every part of it. Many are afraid that we will destroy the earth by our lack of stewardship, but the truth is, only God can destroy it. We may abuse what he has given us and we may make a mess of a small part of it, but we will never be able to destroy it entirely. The same power, the same God who made it, still sustains it.
When we consider the wisdom shown in creation and all that we know as the earth and the heavenly bodies, we must stand in awe in how it works together, in complete harmony. He made fish that can “walk” overland and can even climbs trees. The intelligence of the pesky crow is almost unbelievable. The way some forms of animals depend on others is mind boggling. The tiny hummingbirds fly south for the winter, but to save their energy, they often “catch a ride” on the backs the migrating geese. Only an all-wise God could think of doing all this!
This is the God who made you and me. Every part of the human body is made in such a way that it contributes to the whole. Doctors and scientists are still making discoveries every day about how it all works together. Engineers are still trying to duplicate the perfect design of the human eye and the human ear, but so far, they have not even figured out how they work, let alone, duplicate them. This all-wise, and all-powerful God made all of mankind and he loves every one of us, in spite of what we may have done. "God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
O Lord God, what a blessing to serve a living, all-wise, and all-powerful God who loves me and who takes care of me. Forgive me when I worry or fret about the things in my life. Strengthen my faith to trust you completely in all things. Thank you for my family and for all the material things you have given to me. Thank you for the opportunities you have given me to help others and to serve you. Give your peace to those who are struggling. I pray in the name of Jesus.
