Daily Devotional: Psalms 105:1-11
Ps 105:1-11
Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced, O descendants of Abraham his servant, O sons of Jacob, his chosen ones. He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
He remembers his covenant forever, the word he commanded, for a thousand generations, the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac. He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant: "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion you will inherit."
1 Peter 4:14-17
If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.
The Lord does not forget his promises. Even when the people who are supposed to be following him are rebellious, he still remembers his word. He can choose who he will use to carry out his plans and he can use wicked people to make good come. We as his creation, cannot thwart his plans or make his word fail. We may not understand what God is doing in our time and in our lives but we can always trust him to work everything for our good when we love him and serve him.
The world is wicked because Satan is the prince of this world. The majority of people have always served him and this is still true today. It is easy to ignore God because then we do not feel any accountability for our actions. The more we ignore him and the more we become involved in our own thinking, the farther away from him we will go. When we draw near to God, he draws near to us.
Life is simple and eternity is sure when we love the Lord God and we put all of our trust in him. God has already won the victory over Satan and sin when he raised Jesus from the dead and accepted him back into heaven. We can be more than conquerors in Jesus Christ our Lord. Choose you this day, whom you will serve.
O Lord God, it is my joy to be a part of your family and to know so many others who are seeking to serve you and to be with you in eternity. Thank you for the encouragement and joy these bring to me. Even when life is hard and times are tough, you give me peace and comfort. I need your wisdom every day and I need your strength to do your will. Forgive me when I fail to be all you want me to become. Use me to help others live for you. I pray in Jesus name.
