Daily Devotional: Psalms 135:15-21
Ps 135:15-21
The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see; they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths. Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them. O house of Israel, praise the LORD; O house of Aaron, praise the LORD; O house of Levi, praise the LORD; you who fear him, praise the LORD. Praise be to the LORD from Zion, to him who dwells in Jerusalem. Praise the LORD.
Rom 1:18-21
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.
We live in a world where evil is called good and good is called evil. We live in a time when the majority of the people living do not really recognize God as God, nor do they give him thanks for what is in their lives. Many of the so-called “scientist” of our time believe and teach young minds that there is no God and that all we know, came into existence by some accident. Even though the real evidence shows that there had to be an intelligence behind it, that had power to make something from nothing, they deny the obvious and teach foolish theories.
Why do they do this? One reason (given by a renowned atheist) is that they do not want to be held accountable for their actions and their lives. If there is a God who is Supreme, it logically follows that we must all be subject to him and we must eventually give an accounting to him. So, they turn to foolish ideas and create their own gods that they can teach and manipulate to their pleasing. But all of the foolishness and sinfulness and ignorance in the world does not do away with God or negate our responsibility to him and to his word. He is God!
O Lord God, all powerful and all wise, I am thrilled by your love and compassion that you have shown to me in so many ways. Each day I look at my life and I see how you have blessed me and how you have put so many wonderful people in my life. Thank you from the depths of my heart. Thank you for my wife and the many wonderful years we have been married and for our family. Thank you for our extended families too. Give peace to those who are hurting. In Jesus name.
