Daily Devotional: Psalms 17:13-15
Ps 17:13-15
Rise up, O LORD, confront them, bring them down; rescue me from the wicked by your sword. O LORD, by your hand save me from such men, from men of this world whose reward is in this life. You still the hunger of those you cherish; their sons have plenty, and they store up wealth for their children. And I--in righteousness I will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.
Phil 3:7-9
But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ-the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.
Life can deal us some hard blows. But whatever it is we have to face in life, we can put our trust in God and we can get through the storms. Most of us, at some time, have thought that the things we are facing are unique to us and that no one else has had to face this before. But the fact is, that nothing we face in life is really unique because others have faced it too. Remember, God does care.
We need to never forget that life is not about this world or the things in this world because all of this will pass away. This is just a proving ground for the place that God has prepared for those who love him. This is a land with no sickness, no pain, no disease, or suffering. It is a place where relationships will never end because love is eternal. The new earth that God has for us will have no abuse or hurt.
So what is this place worth? It is worth giving up everything we own and all we can hope to be in this place of time. Even a lifetime of suffering here will seem short compared to the eternal state of bliss in that new land. The thing that makes heaven so wonderful is that we will be in the presence of God the Father and we will be face-to-face with Jesus our Lord. Glory to God!
O Lord God, life does seem hard at times. I know that it would be easy to just be overwhelmed with the pain, the suffering, the sorrow, the grief, and so many other things that come. Yet, I know that you love me and you will always give me what I need to get through whatever I face. Thank you for your faithfulness, for your love, and for your kindness to me. I need your wisdom every day and I need your strength, and your self-control to be what you want me to become. Give your peace of mind and your joy to those who are living in turmoil. Use me to help others to trust you and rely on you. I humbly pray in the name of Jesus.
