Daily Devotional: Psalms 69:1-5
Ps 69:1-5
Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold. I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me. I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched. My eyes fail, looking for my God. Those who hate me without reason outnumber the hairs of my head; many are my enemies without cause, those who seek to destroy me. I am forced to restore what I did not steal. You know my folly, O God; my guilt is not hidden from you.
John 15:18-20
"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.
I once knew a brother who was the most accomplished student, scholar, and teacher of the Old Testament prophets that I have ever known. Based on his studies, he told me that he believed that our country would self-destruct within his lifetime, or shortly after because of the wickedness in our nation. This was in the early 1970’s! Can you imagine what he would say about us today?
To say there is a coup against our nation is an understatement. To say there has been and still is a determined plan to undermine the peoples belief in God is obvious. There have been efforts over the last fifty years to convince the general populace to accept all kinds of sexual perversions as normal and it has worked. It has been a part of politics but politicians are just pawns of the one behind it.
Satan hates God. Therefore, he hates anyone who serves God. It is his goal to rid the world of all believers in any way he can successfully do this. He is very patient but also very deliberate. If he can remove God from the minds of people or make it seem ridiculous to believe in Him, he has won a major battle. Without God, it can be no absolute morality. If there is no such thing as truth, whatever anyone wants to believe becomes “their” truth. Therefore, sexual immorality and perversion of any type is acceptable. When abortion (murder of babies) and euthanasia become acceptable, it opens the door for mass shootings as well.
O Lord God, save our nation. Save us from the evil one. Motivate your people to fight the good fight of winning people for Jesus. Keep your people from accepting the sin that pervades our country and so many of our leaders. Give wisdom to your people to be able to use the technologies of today for good and to fight against the propaganda of the mainstream media outlets. Meanwhile Lord, fill my heart with love, even toward those who oppose me. Give me compassion toward those who are captives of sin, no matter what that sin may be. In Jesus name.
