Daily Devotional: Psalms 83:9-13
Ps 83:9-13
Do to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon, who perished at Endor and became like refuse on the ground. Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, who said, "Let us take possession of the pasturelands of God." Make them like tumbleweed, O my God, like chaff before the wind.
Acts 7:37-40
"This is that Moses who told the Israelites, 'God will send you a prophet like me from your own people.' He was in the assembly in the desert, with the angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers; and he received living words to pass on to us. "But our fathers refused to obey him. Instead, they rejected him and, in their hearts, turned back to Egypt. They told Aaron, 'Make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who led us out of Egypt — we don't know what has happened to him!'
God can solve any problem we face in life. He will always be consistent with his nature and with his word. That includes being consistent with warnings that he gives to us and also the promises he bestows on us. His ear is open to those who are willing to trust and obey him. No matter how much we mess up, he will hear us and respond to our cry. When things happen that are unfair, he will make things right. He richly supplies what is best for us in every situation.
But this can be difficult for us to live with at times because what is best for us is to leave this life and go to live with him and with Jesus in eternity. When God spoke to Moses from the bush, Moses was filled with fear and trembling and dared not to look at God. Our God is an awesome God and when we really understand what that means, we realize that the greatest thing we can attain, is to be with him and be in his presence forever. Jesus is on his throne and is worthy to be praised.
God will punish his enemies and that will include anyone who has been unfair to us or who has mistreated us because in so doing, they have rejected the word of God. Jesus said the world will hate his disciples because they hated him. This world is not our home, which is why we do not love the world or the things in it.
Our Father who is in heaven, holy is your name in all the earth. It is in the name of Jesus, your Son and my Savior that I come to you today. Increase my faith. Give me self-control to do your will. Instill in me a pure heart. Fill me with your love, your patience, and your ability to forgive those who have done me wrong. Be merciful towards the leaders of our country and open their hearts so they will honor you and trust your wisdom. Be with the media so that they will not foment bitterness and hatred among our people. Help us be at peace with one another.
