Daily Devotional: Psalms 96:8-13

Ps 96:8-13

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth. Say among the nations, "The Lord reigns." The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity. Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy; they will sing before the Lord, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his truth.

2 Cor 5:7-10

We live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So, we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

I read the other day of a visit by an high official in the Federal Department of Human Health Services to a school in Alaska that is telling their teachers to tell the kindergarten children that we are not born with any sexual orientation, but the doctor just guesses at birth and then we later decide for ourselves. She gave her commendation to this absurd lie. The apostle Paul said that when people leave out God and think they are wise, they will become fools.

One of the foolish things being taught to our young people is that they are not responsible for their actions. If they have problems, it is because of the actions of others and not themselves. This leaves people with no sense of accountability. If there is no God and we are all just a higher form of animal, this might make sense, but there is a God, and we are made in his likeness. Biologically, we all may be animals, but in reality, they are neither our ancestors nor are they our children.

People are God’s special creation. He made us and we are responsible to him, and we will answer to him for the way we live our lives. We are to fear God (respect him enough to be afraid if we ignore him) and keep his commandments. Love the Lord God with all your heart, with all your soul. If we love him, we will obey him.

O Lord God, please have mercy on our nation and the leaders of it. Open their eyes and their hearts to know you as God and to respect your word, so they will know that it is absolute truth. Give us leaders who will follow your will and who will show reverence to your name. Help me remember that I will answer for how I live and that I cannot answer for others. Give me a devoted heart like David, a man after your own heart. I humbly pray in the name of Jesus my Lord.
