Daily Devotional: Psalms 105:16-22

Ps 105:16-22

He called down famine on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food; and he sent a man before them — Joseph, sold as a slave. They bruised his feet with shackles, his neck was put in irons, till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of the Lord proved him true. The king sent and released him, the ruler of peoples set him free. He made him master of his household, ruler over all he possessed, to instruct his princes as he pleased and teach his elders wisdom.

1 Cor 15:57-58

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 16:23 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.

No two people are the same. I am short but I have a friend who is very tall. I am chunky and always fight to not gain weight. Since her surgeries and treatments, my wife is very thin and trying to put on weight. We all are different, and we all have different strengths, weaknesses, abilities, opportunities, likes and dislikes, then add to all this that we live in many different places. We are different.

But we serve one God. We serve the same Jesus as our Lord and as our Savior. We have the same Spirit working in us, molding us into his image. He knows what is best for each of us and he knows how to work in us and make things work for both our good and for the good of his kingdom. Our job is to work out what he works in us. To use the opportunities he gives us, by going through the doors he opens for us. Instead of making excuses, we need to do what we can do.

Moses held up his arms and Israel won the battle. But he got tired, so Aaron and Hur held his arms up. But it was Joshua who was leading the army and it was the army that was fighting. So, who won the battle? God won the victory through them all! He will give us the victory in life and his will can be accomplished when we all do our part, whatever that may be. This is one of the reasons given for us to assemble regularly with other Christians, so we can encourage each other and keep us all going together. Just our presence makes a difference for others.

O Lord God, show me your way each day. Help me rejoice with others who are doing your work in so many ways, in so many places. I rejoice when people give their lives to you, no matter where they are in this world. Thank you for giving us the medical personnel and the technology that gives healing to so many who face life threatening issues. Thank you for all the things I take for granted, electricity, running water, microwave ovens, computers and the internet. Help me use all of you have given me to be a blessing to others. I pray in the name of Jesus.
