Daily Devotional: Psalms 109:26-31
Ps 109:26-31
Help me, O Lord my God; save me in accordance with your love. Let them know that it is your hand, that you, O Lord, have done it. They may curse, but you will bless; when they attack, they will be put to shame, but your servant will rejoice. My accusers will be clothed with disgrace and wrapped in shame as in a cloak. With my mouth I will greatly extol the Lord; in the great throng I will praise him. For he stands at the right hand of the needy one, to save his life from those who condemn him.
2 Cor 12:7-9
To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
When Israel was wondering in the wilderness for those forty years, God fed them with a bread from heaven called manna. When they awoke in the morning, there would be these wafers coating the ground all around the camp. Each family was to get enough for them to eat that day. They were told to get enough but only for one day. It would keep for that day but if they gathered too much it would rot. But on Friday they were to gather enough for Friday and Saturday (the Sabbath) and it would last for two days. God took care of them one day at a time.
The grace of God is sufficient for each of us in every situation we may face. Jesus said that we are not to worry about tomorrow because each day has enough trouble of its own. God did not promise to take care of tomorrow or next week or next year until it gets here and is today. Power is made perfect in weakness.
Each day we put our trust in God and turn everything over to him in prayer, with thanksgiving. That day we are free from worry and anxiety because we know that he has that day in his hand. Whatever we need, he will supply. He may not take away our problems, but he will give us wisdom and strength to endure.
My heavenly Father, holy and magnificent is your name in all the earth. You alone are God, and you alone deserve to be treated with reverence. Holy, holy, holy, is the name of Jesus your Son who is worthy of all praise and honor and glory. Help me live each day in a way that will honor you as God and Jesus as your Son, as well as my Savior and my Lord. Be with our nation so that we can live in peace as we serve you. Guide our elections and give us leaders that will respect you as God, and your word as truth. Use me to help others. I pray in Jesus’ name.
