Daily Devotional: Psalms 121:1-8
Ps 121:1-8
I lift up my eyes to the hills — where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip — he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you — the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm — he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
1 Peter 1:3-5
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade — kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
Praise the Lord for what he has done for me and for so many others that I love so dearly! From my youth I was taught to trust the Lord, in big things and in small things as well. We often tell our children that nothing is too big for God, but we need to also instill in them that nothing is too small for him either. In fact, at some point, the smaller the problem, the more faith it takes to let God handle it.
This is true, not because we don’t think God can do it, but because we doubt if he is really interested in us and loves us enough to take care of the little thing for us. Most grandparents would laugh at the idea of something being too small for one of their grandchildren to come to them for help. Even Jesus said for the disciples to bring one of the little children to him. God cares about us, whatever it is.
I grew up seeing God at work in the life of our family. There was never any doubt that all my parents did or planned to do was left up to the will of God and by his grace it would be accomplished. Today, I can list a huge number of things that were answers to prayer that put me where I am, doing what I am doing, married to whom I am married, my children and on and on the list goes. Trust God. Pray. Give your life to Jesus. Pray. Serve him by serving others. Pray and listen.
O Lord God, thank you for all you have done for me. Thank you for allowing me to have so many good brothers and sisters in the Lord. Thank you for getting me over the sickness I recently went through. Lord, be with our country and give us leaders in office, as well as those behind the scenes, that will respect you as the only true God. Guide them so that we can live peaceable and quiet lives. Be with your people that we can show your love to the world. I pray in Jesus’ name.
